SIGNAL FILE 009 — OPEN CASE
SCOLAR Network
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization spans about a fifth of humanity. Reach is not an audience — it is the size of the room the platform has to work in.— D.C.
Three programmes that used to run as three organisations. One platform, one login, one place a volunteer learns the job.— D.C.
Twenty-six countries and rotating volunteer teams, on one system that teaches its own operators. An engine that survives staff turnover is an engine, not a website.— D.C.
One platform for a network spanning a billion people.
Hub + event management systems, multi-tier CMS, SEO content, training system.
SCOLAR Network, affiliated with the SCO Secretariat, connects young leaders across the Shanghai Cooperation Organization region — education, culture and entrepreneurship, from Beijing outward. A non-profit: every hour of organiser time is donated, and the software has to respect that.
Growth was the mandate; events were the vehicle; the website was the bottleneck.
What we built. Brand, design and layout. The full web development. A hub management system with multi-tier access, so an ever-expanding, ever-rotating team of organisers could run their own city hubs without breaking anything. An event management system to match. SEO-oriented content structure and a clear path to action for trainings and programs.
Because volunteer teams rotate, we shipped the platform with training videos and materials: the system teaches its own operators. An engine that survives staff turnover is an engine, not a website.
